Knowing there is money set aside for care in the future gives your employees peace of mind. The WA Cares Fund makes long-term care insurance accessible for all Washington workers.  

Washington employers are required to report employees’ wages and hours and pay premiums every quarter. 

Have an employee who's asking for their total premium amount? The premium is 0.58% of an employee's gross wages, so:

Gross wages x .0058 = total premium for employee

LMTAAA is pleased to offer WA Cares application assistance to workers in Lewis, Mason or Thurston County starting in May of 2026. 

Help will be available at no charge and offered over the phone or by appointment at our office.

This is one of the many questions covered by LMTAAA in virtual or in-person WA Cares presentations. They are offered in Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties. 

Paid Family Medical Leave covers short-term needs while the WA Cares Fund will cover long-term care needs.  

Employees needing help with three or more activities of daily living for 90 days or longer, and who meet the contribution requirements, would apply. 

Eligible workers can create a WA Cares account in April 2026 and begin applying in mid-May 2026 with benefits beginning in July 2026.
