Senior Nutrition Program Reaches Wait List Status

High Demand Reflects Continued Need for Local Older Adults

Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging’s Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) has reached its limit for 2026.

May 26, 2026

Local older adults have claimed all available benefit cards for $80 in market-fresh produce. The program is now in wait list status for Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties.

This year’s pace is the fastest yet for LMTAAA’s popular nutrition benefit. Seniors filled more than half of the spots within the first week of the program’s opening. This is the second straight year older adults have claimed all cards in all three counties. To apply, seniors must meet age and income rules.

In a recent community survey by LMTAAA, 17% report barriers to eating nutritious meals. Eighty-six percent of those participants point to cost as the main reason. For year-round food help near you, visit: LMTAAA.org/resources
