Applications for the 2026 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) are now open.
Older adults who meet age and income rules can apply at lmtaaa.org/farmersmarket for $80 in funds. Program dollars are available for fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey at local farmers markets. Applicants must live in Lewis, Mason or Thurston County.

Last year, rising food insecurity drove record demand. Residents claimed every available benefit card in all three counties for the first time.
“This program helps when budgets are tight,” said LMTAAA Community Supports Director Valerie Aubertin. “Older adults tell us it helps them eat healthier and feel better. One shared it was their only way to get a fresh apple. This benefit lets seniors enjoy nutritious meals without giving up something else.”
Funding for SFMNP is limited, so area older adults are encouraged to apply early beginning April 15. People who received a card last year must apply again. Residents who joined the 2025 wait list after the program reached its limit must also reapply.

LMTAAA mails pre-loaded cards to approved applicants beginning in late May. The packet also explains how to use the card, plus where to find markets and stands that accept it.
Benefits are available June 1 through October 31, 2026. Unused amounts will not carry over to the next year. SFMNP is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as state and local resources.
