Six people from each county are appointed to a two-year term and can be re-appointed for up to three terms. Council members offer tremendous value to the Area Agency on Aging; in return, they will learn a great deal about our state's aging and long-term care system. Members are assigned to committees covering health promotion, small project support, and public information.
The LMTAAA seeks Council member volunteers with experience and personal interest in issues facing seniors and younger disabled people in the community. The ability to participate and regularly attend monthly meetings is a consideration. Members are not paid, but automobile mileage is offered to offset the cost of attending meetings.
